Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, an employer with five or more employees must have a written health and safety policy. HSE guidance sets out three parts: statement of intent, responsibilities and arrangements.
Who it is for
It is written for small builders, contractors and subcontractors who need practical health and safety paperwork for site. It is a starting point to adapt to your own work and risks, not a substitute for a competent person's assessment.
How to use it
Complete the statement of intent, name who is responsible for what, and set out the arrangements. The example shows a completed policy for a fictional firm.
