Risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are commonly asked for before work starts on site. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require employers to assess risks.
Who it is for
It is written for small builders, contractors and subcontractors who need practical health and safety paperwork for site. It is a starting point to adapt to your own work and risks, not a substitute for a competent person's assessment.
How to use it
Complete the risk assessment with each hazard, who is at risk, the scoring and the controls. Then complete the method statement with the work sequence, PPE, plant, emergency arrangements and the briefing sign-off. The worked example shows a completed RAMS for a fictional task.
