Instructions are often given verbally on site. Writing them down straight away, with the reason and likely effect, means there is a record to confirm formally under the contract later.
Who it is for
It is written for quantity surveyors, commercial managers and contractors running JCT projects who want a consistent, auditable paper trail from first valuation to final account, without building their own spreadsheets and letters from scratch on every job.
How to use it
Fill in who gave the instruction, when and why, and the likely cost and time effect. The confirmation section tracks when the instruction was formally confirmed and by whom. Check your own contract for how instructions must be given and confirmed.
