Variations are the biggest source of movement in the final account. A register gives every change a number, a status and a value so nothing is lost between the instruction, the quotation and the agreed figure.
Who it is for
It is written for quantity surveyors, commercial managers and contractors running JCT projects who want a consistent, auditable paper trail from first valuation to final account, without building their own spreadsheets and letters from scratch on every job.
How to use it
Log each variation with its instruction reference, then record the quoted, assessed and agreed values as it progresses. Enter the percentage complete and the register works out the value to include in this valuation. A status summary shows how much is agreed, pending or disputed, and the totals link to the valuation workbook.
